SCTV is a national private television station in Indonesia. SCTV is the second private television station in Indonesia after RCTI. SCTV was born on August 24, 1990 as a local television station in Surabaya, based on Jl. Darmo Permai, Surabaya, East Java. Although that date was set as the date of birth of SCTV, it was only on January 1, 1993, that SCTV got a license as a national television station in Jakarta. The SCTV operational office was gradually moved from Surabaya to Jakarta, but the SCTV studio remained in Surabaya. Initially, the majority of SCTV shares were owned by Bimantara Citra through its subsidiary, Sindo Citra Media.
